Parastannyl Chloride, Sn5O9Cl2
Parastannyl Chloride, Sn5O9Cl2.2H2O, is produced by acting on parastannic acid with concentrated hydrochloric acid, dissolving the product in water, and precipitating the opalescent solution thus produced with more acid; the precipitate is then dried in a vacuum. This chloride is also formed in solution when a hydrochloric acid solution of β-stannyl chloride is warmed.
